Chitral & Shandoor — 7 Days

Depart Islamabad at 06:00 am. Drive north through Nowshera and Dir, then enter Chitral via the Lowari Tunnel. Arrive at Ayun Fort Inn by late afternoon. Settle in and watch the sunset light up Tirich Mir (7,708m) from the fort rooftop.

A full day inside the Kailash valleys with your dedicated guide. Visit the Kailash Museum, spend time in a traditional Kailashi home, and walk through the village. Lunch in the valley. Return to Ayun Fort by evening.

Morning drive to Gol National Park for the Ibex View Point hike. Descend and continue to Chitral city for lunch. After lunch, drive north along the Mastuj road to Buni — a scenic highland town at the foot of the Hindu Kush. Check in to Best Western or Green Pak Buni for the night.

Morning excursion to Qaqlasht Meadows — an alpine plateau above Buni with spectacular views of the Hindu Kush range and the Buni valley below. Optional hike to the plateau summit. Then drive north along the Chitral River to historic Mastuj Fort — a living fortress overlooking the river. Check in and explore Mastuj village in the late afternoon.

The highlight of the journey — drive up to the Shandoor Plateau (3,700m), home to the world's highest polo ground and the pristine Shandoor Lake. Walk the lake shore and explore the plateau. Light lunch at Shandoor before descending to Sor Laspur — an emerald valley on the Ghizer side. Return to Mastuj Fort for the night.

Drive back south along the Chitral River to Chitral city. Lunch at Pamir Riverside. Afternoon visit to the magnificent Shahi Fort — last great fortress of the Hindu Kush — and the Shahi Mosque beside the river. Check in to your Chitral hotel and enjoy a riverside dinner.

A morning visit to Chitral Museum — the finest repository of Kalash, Kho and Nuristani heritage in Pakistan. Then depart through the Lowari Tunnel, stop for lunch at Dir, and continue south to Islamabad.
