Birds Eye view of Chitral
Chitral Gol National Park was the former Royal hunting ground, converted into a National Park in the 1990s, an area of 7750 hectares to preserve Markhors, endangered Snow Leopards, wolves and Afghan Urials. It's an hour's jeep ride above the town of Chitral offering unhindered views of Tirich Mir and the cascading hills of the valley below. Perched on a plateau at 2700m, Birmoglasht the Park's highest point, was an abandoned summer palace for Royals. One can also camp here in the forest of Chilghoza Pines near Chaghbini; a huge deodar tree with a 5m girth is also worth a journey of 5km ahead of the palace. You can reach Chitral Gol National Park by taking a Jeep ride from Chitral, road is a bit steep and narrow so taking a jeep is recommended
