Makli

Makli graveyard lies it at the apex Indus River near Thatta, and this enormous cemetery spreads in an area of 10 square km. Necropolis of Makli also signifies the culturally rich civilisation of Sindh from 14th to 18th Centuries nearby city of Thatta which was once capital and centre of Islamic Culture. The vast necropolis of Makli is among the largest in the world with brick or stone monuments, some of which are lavishly decorated with glazed tiles. The most outstanding monuments constructed in stone are the tombs of Jam Nizamuddin II, who reigned from 1461 to 1509, and of lsa Khan Tarkhan the Younger and of his father.Read more
